Completed in 1848, The Hermitage is a stunning Gothic Revival structure, built around and utilizing parts of the mid-18th century home that previously stood on the site. Filled with items ranging from antique clothing and jewelry to paintings from the Hudson River School to old children's toys and games, the historic home in its first incarnation was visited by figures like George Washington. The home is on the north side of town, about 25 miles by car from Newark.
